Actually, in this case it is more like supermen and Superwomen. This past weekend riders from all over New England gathered to ride in the annual Pan-Mass Challenge; a bike-a-thon which raises money for Cancer research at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Unbelievably, 100% of every dollar raised goes to this amazing cause! In 2010, the PMC was responsible for 60% of the Jimmy Fund's annual revenue. If you want to see superheroes, you don't have to look any further than right here.
And what good would any superhero be without sidekicks? The BMW Massachusetts Co-Op signed on as the official vehicle of the Pan-Mass Challenge. Along with other sponsors like The Boston Red Sox, New Balance, and Stop&Shop, they made sure the day was a success. The BMW Massachusetts Co-Op consists of our very own BMW gallery of Norwood and Norwell. They teamed up with BMW Peabody, Sudbury, Shrewsbury, BMW of Cape Cod and Herb Chambers to lend a hand, and some wheels, to this great event. They provided two lead cars and five other vehicles to support the cyclists along the event's 11 routes; all of which combine for a total 360 miles.
The BMW sponsorship wasn't just the vehicles. There was a BMW Rider Village where riders could relax after their ride for the day. The Village had food, areas to relax, and even luxuries such as satellite television. But most importantly, there was room for the riders to share these special moments together and share stories of how this event has helped their loved ones, and even themselves.
BMW believes in this cause. We are proud to be able to sponsor something so important. With the Pan Mass challenge now in its 30th year they have raised over $30 million dollars towards cancer research and treatment. This is quite an accomplishment and the BMW Co-Op is proud to sponsor something so extraordinary.
The BMW Co-Op wanted to give something more sentimental back to its riders this year. For months now riders have been sending in photos of their personal journeys at the PMC challenge. In the BMW Rider Village on Saturday a large video mosaic was created with all of these photos. If you weren't able to check this out in person you can head to their website and see the photos yourself at www.bmwmosaic.com
