BMW to Supply VIP Transportation at London Olympics

The Olympic games are designed to determine and distinguish the world's best athletes. Given the stringent entrance criteria, the competition is high, which makes a medal-win all the more impressive. To match the level of prestige the event represents, the London Organizing Committee has decided on none other than BMW to supply 4,000 vehicles for VIP transportation. You weren't expecting top dogs from all over the world to rely on underground transit were you?

The two new BMW models, expected to comprise the bulk of the fleet are the 3 Series and 5 Series. All 4,000 of the new BMW cars meet the London Organizing Committee's greenhouse gas limits. And, 200 will be electric.

If you're a practical-minded, travel-savvy driver, you might be wondering how the fleet of 4,000 BMWs will manage the chaotic streets of London, especially among the masses of people visiting. Don't worry. While we admit the subway system in London is definitely the way to travel if you want optimum efficiency, the London Organizing Committee has reserved 30 miles of lanes for the VIP fleet. Unfortunately, for those not lucky enough to be using VIP transportation, that means a more difficult time than ever trying to navigate the crowded city streets. The consolation: It's only temporary.
