2014 BMW i8 Plug-In Hybrid Caught Doing Donuts in the Snow

This past July, BMW pulled the cover off their i8 plug-in hybrid concept for the world to see. They called it their "new-generation sports car". But, like most concepts, it was taken by BMW Gallery of Norwood and other enthusiasts across the globe as a sign of what to expect from BMW in the future - not as a prospective production model.
Now, word on the street has it that the super-sporty i8 will arrive at BMW showrooms in 2014. Underscoring plans to bring the zesty, plug-in hybrid to production is the first spy video capturing the BMW i8 as it undergoes winter testing in the cold, snowy tundra.
The video which seems to feature cuts from throughout the day (morning, afternoon and early evening), shows the 2014 BMW i8 prototype doing donuts and taking straight-aways and corners at varying speeds. From what BMW Gallery of Norwood can tell, the camouflaged car handled the treacherous conditions with "what-snow" like confidence.
Are we surprised? Not in the least. With a short, stout stance, and curves to die for, the BMW i8 Prototype is crafted to hug the road and slice through the air with ultimate aerodynamics. Not to mention overall vehicle weight is equally distributed between the prototype's front and rear ends.
Other Noteworthy Specs Surrounding the 2014 BMW Plug-In Hybrid Concept:
- Acceleration time: 0-60 in less than 5 seconds- Electric-only range: 20 miles
- Combined fuel economy: Estimated 94 mpg
- Total power output: Estimated 400 hp
- Distinct Styling Elements: Gullwing/scissor doors
